Tectonic is actively seeking full-time Infrastructure Construction Inspectors to work on upcoming projects in Pittsburgh, PA and surrounding area.


This is an exciting opportunity to work on high-profile and challenging projects!


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS


  • Travels to project sites to conduct field inspections of water mains, sewer lines, stormwater systems, pump stations, manholes, hydrants, valves, and utility connections to ensure proper operation and condition;
  • Monitors construction, rehabilitation, and maintenance activities to verify compliance with approved design specifications, safety standards, and regulatory codes;
  • Performs pressure testing, flow monitoring, and closed-circuit television (CCTV) inspections to assess the integrity and performance of utility infrastructure;
  • Identifies and reports issues such as leaks, blockages, corrosion, infiltration/inflow, and structural deterioration using established field inspection protocols;
  • Utilizes inspection software, GIS mapping tools, and photographic documentation to accurately record inspection findings;
  • Coordinates on-site with contractors, engineers, and municipal personnel during infrastructure improvement projects or in response to emergency repairs;
  • Ensures field activities comply with applicable EPA, DEP, and local environmental and regulatory requirements;
  • Maintains detailed inspection records and updates asset management systems with condition assessment data;
  • Responds to service requests and utility-related emergencies to investigate and support timely resolution of infrastructure problems;
  • Performs other related duties as required to support the successful delivery and oversight of utility infrastructure projects.


QUALIFICIATIONS


  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Construction Management, or a closely related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered;
  • Certification in utility inspection or operations preferred, including but not limited to NASSCO PACP/MACP/LACP, DEP Operator Certification, or similar industry-recognized credentials;
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in the inspection, maintenance, or construction of water, wastewater, or stormwater infrastructure systems;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of water distribution and wastewater collection systems, including components, construction techniques, and rehabilitation practices;
  • Familiarity with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including those from EPA, DEP, and other environmental agencies;
  • Proficiency with inspection and reporting tools, including CCTV systems, flow meters, pressure testing equipment, GIS software, and digital inspection platforms;
  • Strong observational and analytical skills with a proven ability to identify and document deficiencies or irregularities in utility systems;
  • Effective communication and coordination skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with contractors, engineers, and municipal personnel in the field;
  • Valid driver's license and the ability to travel to and work in a variety of field conditions, including confined spaces and active construction sites.


PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS


While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to assume a stationary position, handle, inspect, and/or feel documents, materials and/or equipment relevant to the job and communicate about same. The employee is also regularly required to move around on project sites and within buildings and other structures, including ascending or descending the landscape or on a ladder, and positioning themselves appropriately to access necessary testing materials and equipment, frequently for prolonged periods of time. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 30 lbs, and sometimes lift and/or move up to 55 lbs. The employee is constantly working in outdoor weather conditions, including exposure to extreme heat, extreme cold, and precipitation. The employee will also communicate with colleagues, supervisors and clients utilizing Corporate and client e-mail and telephone systems. The employee must also occasionally operate a computer, as well as other related office machinery, such as calculators, printers, and fax machines. This position also may require the regular operation of a motor-vehicle, which may require remaining stationary for extended periods of time.

PAY RANGE


Tectonic's goal is to compensate employees fairly and equitably across all positions Companywide. Our advertised pay ranges are representative of our good faith effort to provide a reasonable anticipated salary range. The offered pay may be outside of the provided salary range based upon the selected candidate's work location, experience, education, certifications, and capabilities compared to the advertised position.


Pay Range: $45.00 - $60.00 / hour
