Planning Group Manager

We're excited to offer a leadership opportunity for a Planning Group Manager based in our Raleigh office. This senior-level role requires minimal supervision and is ideal for someone with a deep understanding of the project development process who thrives in an independent work environment.

As a Planning Group Manager, you'll take the lead on planning initiatives, contribute to the strategic growth of our practice area, and guide a talented team through complex, high-impact projects. You'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of public and private sector clients and play a key role in shaping the future of our planning efforts for Benesch.


Location

This will be a hybrid position with primary office in Raleigh. The position will consist of multiple in-office days in Benesch offices. Other days may be worked remotely.


The Impact You Will Have

  • Participate or lead planning projects for a variety of public agency clients in the North Carolina market
  • Prepare, review, and oversee quality control/assurance for project deliverables
  • Serve as a liaison with key clients to coordinate Benesch projects and assist in project delivery
  • Mentor, guide, and develop staff
  • Contribute to business development activities such as developing project teams, leading pursuit strategies, and proposal writing


What We Are Looking For

  • 20+ years of industry experience; 10+ years in a similar role
  • Bachelor's or master's degree in planning, Engineering, or related field
  • Strong understanding of transportation planning concepts, practices, and procedures. Experience managing multimodal transportation projects is preferred
  • General project management experience including project staffing, budgeting/cost control, schedule adherence, and quality control
  • Knowledge of NCDOT, FHWA and USADOT regulations, policies, and procedures, and/or agency experience a plus
  • Strong technical, communication, and writing skills
  • Ability to identify business needs and opportunities and effectively forge client and teaming relationships
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office suite
  • Strong public engagement and industry relations communication skill set
