Overview
We seek students to work with our environmental-research team; we strive to understand the chemical and physical properties of the natural world, and how our human activity might impact that world. Our main focus is understanding the unique interaction between air quality and winter weather patterns of the Uinta Basin. Duties for this position will depend on the applicant's interests and the team's needs. We encourage applications from all backgrounds, communities, and levels of experience with scientific research.

We are looking for students with interest in areas that include (but are not limited to):
  • Statistical and manual analysis of weather patterns
  • Data visualization design
  • Computer programming and modeling; website design
  • Creative scientific writing and public communication
  • Chemical measurements in the field and laboratory
  • Instrument design, construction, and testing

Flexible hours and time off. Based at the Vernal USU Uintah Basin Campus.

Responsibilities
  • Assist with research projects and other work as described in the overview.


Qualifications
  • Experience in scientific research or related areas (not required but beneficial)
  • Open mind and positive attitude
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proven record of taking initiative on assignments
  • Ability to produce careful, thoughtful, and consistent work
  • Coursework in science, mathematics, computing, and/or statistics
