Summary:

The Research Assistant will work with the Research Scientist on previously-collected deidentified data for a project evaluating sleep indices in childhood and adolescence. Job responsibility includes but is not limited to literature review search, progress report support, script development and data cleaning at the direction of the research scientist, script archiving, and data visualization tasks (tables and figures). The person in this position will gather extensive and complex research information and with support from the research scientist will summarize, synthesize, and prepare data reports on the research information. With support from the research scientist, the person will ensure quality control and organization of the data are completed for each sub-project. This position will also provide occasional administrative and data management support.

Responsibilities:

* With guidance from the research scientist, support research initiatives including data management, variable identification, data checking, script development, organization, and archiving.

* Assist with data visualization initiatives for all steps of the project to prepare initial reports on missingness of data, data distribution, visualization of data relationships, figures and tables for final results.

* Assistant with compilation and archiving of all scripts used to select, clean, and analyze data.

* Assist with preparing manuscripts, grant proposals, and conference presentations.

* Assist with tracking and reporting study milestones.

* Complete required paperwork and assist in preparing research progress reports.

* Conduct background literature reviews, citation management, drafting, writing, proofreading manuscripts, and manuscripts submissions.

* Review data results for publication.

* May assist in the co-authorship of scientific publications.

* Performs other related tasks as necessary.

    Other information:

    Education

    Enrolled in a program to receive a Bachelor's Degree in Applied or Life Sciences or related area.

    Knowledge

    * Demonstrates advanced competence with various Microsoft Office software programs, such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Learns new skills easily such as RStudio and scripting.

    Special knowledge/skills

    * Ability to gather complex information and synthesize, summarize information into comprehensive and cohesive reports and other documents.

    * Ability to work independently and interdependently.

    * Attention to detail and thoroughness is critical.

    * Ability to conform to shifting priorities, demands and timelines through analytical and problem-solving capabilities.

    * Ability to be flexibility during times of change.
