POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the general guidance of the Operations Manager of the Antenatal Testing Unit, the Lead Tech coordinates administrative and technical leadership for the Antenatal testing unit. Works with the department managers, other team leaders and staff to evaluate service requirements and develop and implement department procedures as necessary. Schedules work and assigns sonographers as required; coordinate and supervise obstetrics ultra sound education for ultra sound techs, medical students and residents.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION:

At a minimum, completion of one of the following programs is required:


  • Associates degree or

  • A 2-year patient-based allied health program (Ultrasound, Medical Sonography or Radiologoy preferred) or

  • Armed Forces equivalent medic/corpsman program (DD-214 required as proof)


CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS REQUIRED:

Certification RDMS (Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) required.

EXPERIENCE:


  • At least two years experience in Level 2 OB/GYN ultrasound are required.

  • Supervisory experience preferred.


KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:


  • Work requires knowledge of principles and procedures of Ultrasound and the operation and maintenance of Radiologic and/or Ultrasound equipment.

  • Work requires excellent interpersonal and communication skills sufficient to interact effectively with patients and all/any apprehensions, to instruct students and to provide technical supervision to staff technologists.

  • Basic computer proficiency inclusive of ability to enter and access data/information. Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook and web browsers;

  • Ability to analyze data and ability to prepare written reports.

  • Leadership ability to guide, direct, and mentor staff.
