Job Summary Scottsdale Community College (SCC) is seeking a full-time Maintenance Operations Specialist. This position is responsible for performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairs to ensure the proper operation of buildings, utilities, equipment, grounds, and facilities. The Maintenance Operations Specialist works independently and must be capable of performing complex building maintenance tasks, including assisting trades workers with electrical, plumbing, carpentry, painting, and HVAC work. To best serve the students, department, and college, this position requires a physical presence on campus. Please read the "How to Apply" section to avoid incomplete application materials. Essential Functions 40% - General Maintenance and Repairs Performs a variety of maintenance tasks, including painting, plumbing, basic electrical work, welding, carpentry, and hardware repairs; installs and repairs doors, fixtures, locksets, and equipment; uses tools and materials safely and keeps equipment in working order; reports items that must be repaired or replaced that are beyond their abilities or resources to perform themselves. 30% - Building Systems Support Monitors and troubleshoots building systems, including plumbing, electrical, energy management systems, and life safety; responds to work orders, resolves system issues, and ensures compliance with safety codes and regulations; checks and updates job status in the Computerized Maintenance Management System; retrieves information and enters/updates information in reports, logs or other documentation/record-keeping systems maintains a sufficient supply of small parts and other materials to successfully perform the majority of tasks typically assigned to the section; secures their tools at the end of the shift each day. 20% - Preventive and Coordinated Maintenance Completes preventive maintenance on building systems. Assists trades workers in larger projects and coordinates work with outside vendors when necessary. Keeps records of work completed and uses maintenance software tools. 10% - Other Duties Follows safety procedures and campus policies. Handles additional duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or GED, and three (3) years of specialized building maintenance and/or repair experience related to area of assignment. OR An equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above, unless otherwise subject to any other requirements set forth in law or regulation. There is no substitution or equivalency allowable for the High School Diploma or GED. Special Requirements: Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications: Possession of a valid State of Arizona Driver License (Class D) Desired Qualifications A. Five (5) years' experience working in any facilities maintenance field B. Five (5) years working independently of supervision as a multi-trade facilities technician C. Three (3) years' experience assisting trades personnel D. Three (3) years' experience working on electrical and lighting E. Five (3) or more years of experience working in a commercial facilities environment performing diagnosis and repair of building systems, including, but not limited to, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and painting F. Three (3) years of experience working with a computerized maintenance management system G. Experience working in a facilities maintenance position in a large institutional setting such as a school system, a college or university, or a municipal operation Special Working Conditions
