DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As an Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for processing Department of State invoices approved for payment in the Commonwealth accounting system or Commonwealth Purchasing Card transactions including allocations, in accordance with bureau policies and procedures. Work involves preparing and maintaining various tracking logs to record fiscal activities such as the receipt of paper and electronic invoices, advancement account checks, annual membership lists, and Real Estate Recovery Fund payments by fiscal year. You will also have the opportunity to research issues with invoices and vendors to determine appropriate corrective action. Additional responsibilities include processing fund commitments and purchase order changes, tracking invoices to ensure timely processing and payment, as well as recording payment information on electronic files. - Full-time employment
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.
- Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, upon successful completion of on-site training. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years of experience performing bookkeeping or clerical accounting work; or
- An Associate Degree in accounting or business administration including or supplemented by six credits of accounting.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
