Watertown, SD

Join our team at Terex Utilities and embark on an exciting opportunity as we seek a skilled and dedicated Designer to contribute to the Terex Utilities Team.

We are looking to fill a position for a Designer/Engineer in the Installation Design Department, with a focus on electrical schematics. This is a full-time position that requires attention to detail and problem-solving aptitude. This position will be responsible for maintaining existing schematics and completing new schematics.

This position will work in Watertown, SD or willing to relocate for minimum of 18 months with option then to relocate to Waukesha, WI facility.

What you'll do

  • Technical design and review of electrical schematics and drawings
  • Design and/or assist in the design of electric systems
  • Engage in creative and innovative problem solving on a daily basis while managing a diverse array of projects
  • Continually research and apply new technologies to grow team capabilities
  • Create written documentation to support new design software processes
  • Work closely with hydraulic design team to integrate complete system designs
  • Apply engineering design and fundamentals to newly established products or current products
  • Complete Engineering Change Notice (ECN) for release to document control.
  • Complete and sign-off controlling documentation as required while adhering to general engineering principals
  • Review technical documentation for accuracy
  • Update drawings and BOMs per Drawing Approval change orders
  • Work with production team members to understand and resolve problems
  • Perform other duties as assigned

What you'll bring

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering or similar field by hire date
  • Graduated on or before May 2025
  • Extensive electrical installation and troubleshooting experience will be considered vs. degree
  • Knowledgeable in 3D design software. (SolidWorks preferred)
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of technical writing, blueprint reading, application of advance problem-solving skills
  • Involves sitting and must be able to lift 10 pounds occasionally, frequently lifting 1-2 pounds
  • In Watertown, SD or willing to relocate for minimum of 18 months with option then to relocate to Waukesha, WI facility

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with data driven electrical schematic software. Examples: E3, EPlan and or Aucotec Engineering Base or equivalent.
  • Experience with PLC's and HMI's
  • Programming in C, Structured-text and ladder logic.
  • Experience with CANbus/ J1939 protocols
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems and tools
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
  • Understanding of lean principals
  • Leader in problem solving, root cause analysis, and create solutions with little or no direction.
  • Ability to offer suggestions to improve product or design
  • Basic understanding of Finite Engineering Analysis (FEA) and how it applies to design of weldments
  • Knowledge of controller application and workings, new product development design cycle, project management, training, internship experience in related field
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and understand general instruction to achieve desired outcome

The salary range for this position is $62,000 - $75,000 annually. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc.
