Job Description

The University of Missouri, a proud member of the Southeastern Conference (SEC), is seeking a dynamic and experienced Assistant Coach for Track & Field - Jumps to support its nationally competitive NCAA Division I program. This position will assist the Head Coach in developing elite-level student-athletes in the horizontal and vertical jumps while fostering a culture of excellence, integrity, and academic success.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the development and execution of technical and tactical training plans for jumpers (long jump, triple jump, and high jump), with a focus on year-round performance progression.

Identify, evaluate, and recruit high-potential student-athletes domestically and internationally, building relationships with prospective student-athletes, families, and club/high school coaches.

Monitor and assess student-athlete progress, including regular performance analysis, feedback sessions, and data tracking to drive improvement and mitigate injury risk.

Implement sport science and technology tools, including video breakdown, biomechanics analysis, and training data to support evidence-based coaching.

Maintain an active recruiting database, manage communication schedules, and ensure timely coordination of official and unofficial visits in compliance with NCAA and SEC guidelines.

Contribute to meet preparation, including entries, travel logistics, facility setup, and athlete readiness (both physical and psychological).

Collaborate with strength & conditioning staff to align training loads, strength development, recovery, and periodization across indoor and outdoor seasons.

Coordinate academic progress checks with Athletics Academic Services, ensuring all student-athletes are meeting institutional, SEC, and NCAA academic standards.

Mentor student-athletes in leadership, personal responsibility, and life skills through consistent communication and support.

Foster a team culture that promotes accountability, mental resilience, inclusivity, and pride in representing the University of Missouri.

Support fundraising, alumni engagement, and community outreach efforts in alignment with department priorities and head coach direction.

Stay current on NCAA and SEC rules and regulations and report any concerns to compliance staff immediately.

Attend and contribute to staff meetings, strategic planning sessions, and professional development opportunities as assigned by the Head Coach.

Shift

Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm; Nights, Weekends, and Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree in related/ relevant area or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications: Prior experience in a NCAA Division I Track & Field Program

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
