Where you will work: This position offers a hybrid work option up to 50% remote and is open to any Compeer office location in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin.

The contributions you will make: This position provides credible evaluations to internal and external clients and assists in maintaining sales data and valuation systems.

A typical day:



  • Applies approved evaluation practices and procedures to produce credible, reliable, and well-supported estimates of market value of real estate.
  • Performs valuations, real estate studies, and other duties. Supports internal and external (fee) client appraisal needs.
  • Produces concise reports supporting the market value of these properties based on Interagency Appraisal and Evaluation Guidelines.
  • Performs market data collection and analysis and maintains an accurate sales database under supervision of a Certified or Sr Certified Appraiser.
  • Researches building cost/depreciation characteristics for improved sales.
  • Provides basic market synopsis including property sales information to Compeer Financial loan officers and potential clients to aid in future purchasing decisions.
  • Inspects sales and subject properties to verify property attributes where required by internal policy or external client requirements.
  • Documents pertinent characteristics of properties (size, condition, location, improvements, etc.) to ensure they are accurately represented.


The skills and experience we prefer you have:



  • Bachelor's degree in Agriculture-Business, Business Administration, Finance or Economics or related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • One-year of appraisal related experience.
  • Completes evaluation on the job training with supervision from VP Appraisal or Regional Manager.
  • Completes ASFMRA (or equivalent provider) courses:

    • Basic Appraisal Principles
    • Three Approaches to Value online training or Sales Comparison Approach
    • Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP)


  • Working knowledge of producing valuations of agricultural properties.
  • Understands land market trends.
  • Strong computer skills, including MS Office applications and customer relationship management (CRM) programs.
  • Strong listening, written and verbal communication skills, with ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices.
  • Skill in developing and maintaining interpersonal relationships.
  • Strong problem solving, decision making and organizational skills.
  • Skill in applying appraisal concepts.
  • Ability to maintain confidential information.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other teams to achieve goals and represent the business.
  • Ability to remain objective in balancing business needs and risk.
  • Valid driver's license.

The actual title and base pay offered is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role is eligible for variable compensation and other benefits.

$56,400 - $80,200 USD
