The Manufacturing Accountant is responsible for managing and improving day-to-day accounting, financial operations, and administrative functions within company Manufacturing.
This role is hands-on and ideal for someone who thrives on challenges, possesses strong analytical and organizational skills, and seeks to be a key advisor in financial decision making.
The Manufacturing Accountant ensures accuracy and timeliness in reporting while
helping improve accounting systems and financial performance for a growing
manufacturing operation.
Essential Job Duties & Responsibilities:
* Oversee Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions
* Manage daily cash flow and forecasting
* Prepare and send invoices/billings
* Reconcile credit card transactions
* Administer payroll and support Human Resources functions
* Handle month-end and year-end closings and support external accountants
* Record accruals and journal entries
* Maintain cost control and inventory accounting procedures
* Support goods receiving and work ticket creation
* Conduct financial variance analysis and root cause identification
* Improve and document accounting procedures
* Prepare budgets and forecasts; identify financial risks and opportunities
* Assist with international shipment documentation and compliance reporting
* Ensure timely and accurate tax filings (Federal, State, and Local)
* Track purchasing activity and AR collections
* Support yearly Workman's Comp audits
* Setup and manage ERP-based sales commission processes
* Provide administrative support to the President
* Act as point of contact for ERP system maintenance and liaise with external I.T. support
* Responsible for creation/distribution of Daily Financial Snapshot
* Development of Sales Reporting Package for OEM and Proprietary Walsh Marine
businesses
* Perform additional responsibilities as needed in support of business objectives
Qualifications:
Education and/or Experience:
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field (or equivalent work experience)
* Minimum of 2 years' experience in a manufacturing environment
* Prior experience in financial reporting and budgeting
* Familiarity with SAGE 100 or similar ERP system preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word)
* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
* Detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines
* High level of discretion and professionalism
* Effective communicator and collaborator across teams
* Ability to work independently and prioritize responsibilities
* Manufacturing and small business experience preferred
* Experience in plastics manufacturing a plus
