Job Description |
ECU Department of Library Services at Joyner is currently seeking a Manuscripts & Digital Curation, Special Collections Assistant.
The Manuscripts & Digital Curation unit at Joyner Library is seeking a detail-oriented and motivated student assistant to support archival storage management, collection care, and basic reference services. Under the supervision of Manuscripts & Digital Curation staff, the student assistant will help maintain physical storage areas, assist with collection management tasks and data input, and aid both patrons and staff with reference requests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with the management and organization of the physical archival storage space.
- Undertake collection management tasks and data entry under the supervision of Manuscripts & Digital Curation staff.
- Assist with basic reference requests when assigned.
- Supervise collection material usage in the Special Collections Research Room.
- Pull and reshelf collection materials for patron use.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support the Manuscripts & Digital Curation unit.
- Required Qualifications
- Strong organizational and analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and communicate clearly.
- Willingness to learn and use archival management software.
- Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs. and work in environments where dust may be present.
Work Schedule & Compensation Up to 20 hours per week with flexible 9-5 scheduling to accommodate academic commitments. All qualified candidates are encouraged to apply. |

This position is open to students studying any field of study.
This position may be of particular interest to students interested in Library Science, History, Public History, Digital Humanities, or related fields who wish to gain hands-on experience in archival management and preservation. |
