POSITION SUMMARY: As a Level 4 Interior Architect at HED, you are a project leader and technical expert responsible for integrating interior architecture within the broader design and construction process. You bring deep experience in interior detailing, systems coordination, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to ensure design excellence throughout the lifecycle of a project. You lead efforts across all phases and provide mentorship to team members, while serving as a primary technical resource and client-facing contributor. Your approach balances innovation with execution, advancing HED's mission to create positive impact through integrated design. TYPICAL DUTIES:
- Lead and manage interior architectural scope for large-scale and technically complex projects.
- Develop and document space planning, detailing, interior systems, and integrated architectural strategies.
- Coordinate closely with architecture, MEP, and structural teams to ensure seamless integration of building systems.
- Lead production of construction documents, interior elevations, details, finish plans, and specifications.
- Resolve technical challenges and contribute to design solutions that align with client goals and user experience.
- Conduct quality reviews and ensure compliance with code, ADA, and firm standards.
- Guide and mentor junior and mid-level designers, fostering a collaborative and learning-focused studio culture.
- Represent interior architecture discipline in client meetings, consultant coordination, and construction administration.
- Champion sustainable, healthy, and high-performing design strategies.
- Support business development and pursuit efforts with technical insight and project experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's or master's degree in architecture, interior architecture or related field from a NAAB- or CIDA-accredited program.
- Minimum 7 years of professional experience in architecture or interior architecture, including lead roles on significant projects.
- Architectural Licensure or NCIDQ certification required.
- Advanced proficiency in Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, and Bluebeam Revu.
- Strong understanding of building codes, construction methods, detailing, and documentation standards.
- Demonstrated leadership and team coordination skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and mentorship abilities.
- Familiarity with WELL, LEED, or other sustainability frameworks preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to effectively communicate in writing and verbally via phone, video conferencing, and in person.
- Must be able to perform site visits.
- Visual acuity to perform responsibilities.
