What to Expect

Consider before submitting an application:

This position is expected to start August/September 2025 and continue through the entire Fall term (i.e. through approx December 2025) or into Winter/Spring 2026 if available. We ask for a minimum of 12 weeks, full-time and on-site, for most internships.

International Students: If your work authorization is through CPT, please consult your school on your ability to work 40 hours per week before applying. You must be able to work 40 hours per week on-site. Many students will be limited to part-time during the academic year.

What You'll Do
  • Perform product safety testing, troubleshooting and bug fixing with Tesla crossfunctional Teams (ME, EE, SW and FW teams)
  • Setup test configuration hardware and firmware, which may include high power grid- connected batteries, EV chargers and solar products
  • Developing test criteria, methodologies and pass/fail criteria

  • Propose and implement process improvement opportunities to facilitate testing andcertification process

  • Write Compliance Product Design Requirements (CPDR) summarizing safetycompliance requirements for design team to achieve compliance

  • Support the research of new market entry requirementsand feed upcoming requirements to internal stakeholders for early adoption

  • Represent Tesla on code and committee groups to aid in renewable code advancement

  • Track codes, standards and regulatory changes and forward plan

  • Serve as an expert resource for compliance test engineers

  • Work with NRTLs to achieve product compliance (Plan and manage NRTLs)


What You'll Bring
  • Pursuing a Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, preferred major in PowerElectronics or related field

  • Attention to detail and ability to navigate/interpret ambiguity of standards

  • Strong lab/test/data analysis/troubleshooting/reporting skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills

  • Proven track record in renewable product certifications

  • Experience with LabVIEW, Yokogawa, Dewetron or other data acquisition and analyzertools, grid simulator, RLC load bank and communication interfaces

  • High voltage/power experience

  • Highly experienced in global grid interaction/support codes and standards

    Expected Compensation
    $20.00 - $50.00/hour + benefits

    Pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position may also include other elements dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
