Job Summary: This position contributes to the design and delivery of research projects and collaborates with researchers to develop, execute and interpret research projects. Performs complex laboratory and data collection techniques. the Research Specialist- Natural Sciences with expertise in the state-of-the-art gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) quantification of neurosteroids, a critical component of our ongoing studies for which we are known nationwide as one of the very few laboratories who established and perform this methodology. Position directly supports our mission to advance biomarker development and precision medicine approaches for neuropsychiatric disorders, aligning with our strategic goals in women's mental health, PTSD, and mood disorders. Researcher will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and reliability of neurosteroid quantification, which is a cornerstone of our funded research projects. Their expertise as a post-doc enables the integration of clinical perspectives with lab methodologies, bridging the gap between translational research and clinical applications. This position will foster our ability to process and analyze neuroactive steroid quantification by GC-MS in clinical samples of human pathologies including PTSD, MDD, post-partum depression, and alcohol use disorder in a timely and efficient manner and fulfill the requirements of this work with our collaborators. This position is 100% directly funded by grants. Job Responsibilities (Essential Duties): Collaborate with Principle Investigator and researchers to develop objectives and design of research projects and proposals. Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned. Job Knowledge & Skills, Education, Experience: Bachelor's degree in science or related field required. Master's degree in science preferred. A minimum of 3 years' related research experience. Possess and apply comprehensive knowledge of research principles, concepts, practices and methods. Proficient in specific lab research techniques. Best Candidate: Performs surveys, interviews, observations or uses other methods according to established research protocols. Assist with documentation of study procedures and participant data in REDCap. Collect, process, and analyze data. Summarize research and test results. May assist with study protocol development. Coordinate the ordering, inventory and maintenance of equipment, instruments and data collection and analysis tools. Communication: Prepare and contribute statistical data and pertinent information for papers, grants, and other documents. Complete required documentation for regulatory agencies. Specific tasks include following established research protocols to recruit and consent participants, collect and manage quantitative and qualitative data, coordinate the maintenance of data collection and analyses tools (e.g., via REDCap), and maintain positive relationships with community partners. Master's degree in related field. Two-year related research experience. Experience working with pregnant women population.
