About the Role:

Boston Scientific is seeking a highly experienced and driven 3D Printing/ SLA Technician to join our cutting-edge additive manufacturing team in Process Development. This hands-on role supports the rapid prototyping and product development teams through expert-level operation, maintenance, and process optimization of a diverse range of additive manufacturing systems.

This position is ideal for a proactive technician with a deep understanding of PolyJet, FDM, SLA, and MJF technologies and a passion for precision, quality, and innovation in the medical device industry.

Work Mode:
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a onsite work model, requiring employees to be in our local office at five days per week.

Key Responsibilities:



  • Operate and maintain a range of 3D printing systems including PolyJet (e.g., Stratasys), FDM (e.g., Ultimaker, Fortus), SLA (e.g., Formlabs, 3D Systems), and MJF (e.g., HP Jet Fusion).
  • Prepare, schedule, and prioritize daily print jobs in coordination with R&D, engineering, and product development teams, utilizing an internal work order system
  • Perform part post-processing, including support removal, curing, sanding, dyeing, and finishing to meet engineering and visual standards.
  • Maintain machine calibration and troubleshoot hardware/software issues to ensure optimal performance and uptime.
  • Track and manage material inventory, equipment usage, and print job data for documentation and continuous improvement.
  • Assist in developing and optimizing print workflows, support structures, and orientation strategies for high-quality, repeatable outputs.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment in accordance with Boston Scientific's quality standards and compliance requirements.



Required Qualifications:



  • 6+ years of relevant experience with a high school degree or an equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Hands-on experience operating and maintaining PolyJet, FDM, SLA, and MJF 3D printing systems in lab environment
  • Strong understanding of additive manufacturing materials, technologies, and design-for-additive principles.
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Creo) and file preparation tools (e.g., GrabCAD Print, PreForm, Magics, Insight).
  • Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues and maintain precision equipment.
  • Experience in a regulated industry (preferably medical devices, aerospace, or automotive).
  • Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and communication skills.

  • Associates or Bachelor's degree in Engineering Technology
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams including R&D, Process Development, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering

Compensation will be commensurate with demonstrable level of experience and training, pertinent education including licensure and certifications, among other relevant business or organizational needs. Compensation for non-exempt (hourly), non-sales roles may also include variable compensation from time to time (e.g., any overtime and shift differential) and annual bonus target (subject to plan eligibility and other requirements).
