LOCATION OF (1) POSITION(S) TO BE FILLED: DEPARTMENT OF MILITARY, TENNESSEE EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT AGENCY (TEMA) DIVISION, DAVIDSON COUNTY

This Position has the potential opportunity to work from home up to 40% of the time.

Qualifications

Education and Experience: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree AND experience
equivalent to three years of full-time experience in a public safety related field or military service, of which one year must be supervision OR coordination.

Substitution of Experience for Education: Qualifying full-time experience in a public safety related field or military service may be substituted for the required education, on a year-for-year basis to a maximum of four years.

Substitution of Education for Experience: Additional graduate coursework in a related subject may be substituted for the required experience for a year-for-year basis to a maximum of two years, there being no substitution for the one year of full-time supervisory OR coordination work.

Overview

Under general supervision, this class is responsible for professional Emergency Management administrative work of average difficulty and performs related work as required. An employee in this class manages Emergency Management program(s) supporting the Preparedness, Mitigation/Recovery, Field and Operations, or Administration Divisions of the Tennessee Emergency Management Agency (TEMA). This class differs from the Emergency Management Administrator 2 class because an employee working in the latter class performs work of greater scope, such as managing multiple programs of considerable difficulty. Employees within this class may perform moderate physical activities and must be able to perform at a high level for periods in excess of twelve hours.

  2. Support leadership by planning an prioritizing work to better support the agency's needs and Strategic Plan.
  3. Identify the best and most efficient processes within the role assigned and also implement changes within processes when needed
  4. Operate responsibilities in an ambiguous but effective fashion, identifying needed results and the best way to achieve them.
  5. Build channels for collaboration within the agency to best suit the needs of the department.

TN Driver Standards
