This vacancy will be posted on internal Career Website for 5 business days.Associates are eligible to apply for a lateral transfer after completion of one (1) year of service in their present position, with the following exception: an Associate who has received a written warning is not eligible for a transfer/promotion prior to six (6) months from date of issuance; an Associate who has been suspended is not eligible for transfer/promotion prior to one (1) year from date of suspension. Part-time Associates who have completed their probationary period can move to full-time vacancies within their department provided such movement will not unreasonably reduce the operational efficiency of that department. Probationary period is three (3) months for full-time employees, and four (4) months for part-time employees who works more than 3/5 of the normal workweek. Probationary period will not apply to shift changes. SUMMARY OF POSITION: Take and record patient's height, weight, blood pressure and temperature when indicated (if patient is said to be ill or appears ill). Initially assess for unanticipated emergent or urgent medical condition such as acute asthma or acute lethargy. Obtain health history and vital signs including blood pressure and blood drawing (venipuncture). Assist physician with physical exams and medical procedures by positioning patient, providing instrumentation and checking vital signs during the procedure. Perform all appropriate clerical work in connection with the preparation of billing source documents, insurance forms, diagnostic testing order forms. Order and maintain supplies; ensure exam rooms are appropriately stocked and prepared. Maintain logbooks (i.e. refrigerator temperature, pathology specimens, critical values, etc.). Assist in clerical procedures such as scheduling appointments, answering phone calls and recording messages and completing forms, medical records and requests for lab tests and x-rays, and referring for medical follow up. Do pre-authorizations for tests, procedures, or medications. Perform routine tests (POC and POS) such as urinalysis, blood sugar, hematocrit, EKG, PFT. Escort patients to/from reception area, exam/procedure rooms and nursing station. May rotate to multiple clinical practices based on operational needs. EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS: High School Diploma or GED is required. Graduate of state approved nursing assistant certificate program or 2 years' experience as a direct care provider in a related setting or a combination of education and experience acceptable to the Director of Nursing. Certificate of successfully completing a Patient Care Technician program with presentation of competency-based orientation. Training must include phlebotomy and 12 Lead ECG. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) is required. Ability to deal effectively with public and physicians; ability to read, write, speak, understand and communicate in English to perform job duties; excellent interpersonal and telephone skills; ability to manage numerous tasks and prioritize appropriately. EKG machine, centrifuge, autoclave (as needed), glucometer and similar point-of-care testing equipment, blood pressure equipment, scale with height and weight measurement, fax, copier machine, computer workstation, and all CIS necessary related to patient care.
