Overview
Illinois CancerCare is seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Medical Office Assistant - Physician Desk (Desk MOA) to support our providers and nursing staff at the Peoria clinic. Also known as a Medical Services Coordinator, this role plays a key part in ensuring smooth, accurate, and timely coordination of patient care through essential clerical and administrative support. - Hiring Pay Range: $16.00-$24.00 per hour

Responsibilities
What You'll Do
- Assist providers and nurses with clerical tasks related to patient care, including processing forms, letters, and patient correspondence.
- Coordinate referrals and services such as blood transfusions, home health, hospice, and medical equipment.
- Manage molecular testing orders, consents, and results tracking.
- Answer phones, send/receive faxes, and relay messages through the EMR.
- Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with HIPAA regulations.
- Support nursing staff with administrative follow-up.
- Organize and scan paperwork for medical marijuana documentation.
- Provide general administrative support as directed by providers or nursing staff.
Qualifications
What We're Looking For
- High school diploma or GED (required)
- 3+ years of experience in a clinical medical office
- CMA or CNA certification preferred
- Strong communication and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask and remain calm in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment
- Familiarity with EMR systems and medical terminology
