Painter Apprentice-Full Time

PAINTER APPRENTICE -FULL TIME

Performs a variety of surface preparation, painting, and wallcovering duties in and around Luther Manor properties.

• Prepares surfaces for sanding, patching etc. using hand/power tools.
• Paints and treats exterior and interior surfaces.
• Coordinates multiple job assignments to meet changing priorities.
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision 5% of time and typically works alone.
• Requests purchase orders and maintain stock needed to perform job assignments .
• Installs and maintains wall coverings.

• High school graduate or equivalent preferred
• Must demonstrate a sound surface preparation and painting aptitude, preferably through prior experience with interior, exterior and enamel paints.
• Ability to balance on flat surfaces in awkward positions, stretching and bending.
• Ability to stoop, squat or kneel to work at low level painting and/or prep of those surfaces.
• Ability to lift objects weighing up to approximately 35 pounds.
• Ability to push / pull objects with up to 35 pounds of force.
• Frequent above shoulder height work and/or climb surfaces to raise the work height surfaces.
• Ability to remove and replace drywall.
• Ability to distinguish between shades of colors and patterns.
• Must have basic understanding of stain, varnish, cleaner, and paint composition and the differences in using each appropriately.
• Actively participates in or initiates problem solving in job-related issues. Works positively with coworkers, sharing job responsibilities when assignments are completed and in times of shortage and special projects.
