The Lead person works with the Supervisor(s) to coordinate manufacturing activities within their department ensuring safety and quality. Team Leads are strong communicators who can motivate a team to achieve certain targets, manage time, and maintain multiple responsibilities and tasks. It is the responsibility of the Lead Person to consistently display behaviors aligned with Watts' Code of Conduct, Mission, Vision, and Values.PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES: * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment. * Lead and coordinate the activities of a team of fabricators, welders, and machine operators. * Assign tasks based on production schedules and employee skill levels. * Monitor workflow to ensure timely completion of jobs and adherence to quality standards. * Operate fabrication equipment such as press brakes, shears, saws, and welding machines. * Interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work orders. * Train and mentor team members on proper fabrication techniques and safety procedures. * Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications. * Communicate effectively with supervisors, engineers, and other departments. * Assist in troubleshooting equipment and process issues. * Track materials, tools, and inventory usage. * Ability to fill in for Supervisor and run department accordingly * Maintain a safe work environment and culture for all associates, following all safety rules and regulations, and escalating all safety concerns immediately. Ensure that any job-related injury and/or illness is reported immediately to the Supervisor and Safety Manager. * Lead by abiding to the Watts Code of Conduct, maintaining a strong work ethic, and encouraging a daily mindset of continuous improvement and mutual respect for all associates. Follow and up-hold all company policies and procedures. * If there are any issues with production or fulfilling orders on time, Team Leads quickly identify these problems and find ways to resolve them so that deadlines are still met without compromising safety or quality working between departments when needed. * Team Leads complete paperwork and administrative tasks related to the production line and submit as applicable in QAD. * Update Gemba boards and lead daily meetings. * Perform other duties as assigned. EDUCATION: * High school diploma or GED; and/or technical or vocational training or equivalent of education and experience. EXPERIENCE: * Minimum of 5+ years of experience as a Welder; Experience training new employees preferred. MINIMUM REQUIRED SKILLS: * Proficient in reading blueprints and using fabrication tools and machinery. * Strong understanding of welding processes (MIG, TIG, Stick) and metalworking techniques. * Safety-First Thinking - Maintain a safe work environment and culture for all associates, following all safety rules and regulations, and escalating all safety concerns immediately. * Leadership - Team Leads must motivate their team(s) and show support and guidance when necessary, displaying strong leadership skills. * Teamwork - Working well as part of the team is critical to a Team Leads success, as they oversee their colleagues and manage their own schedule. Assisting others and offering guidance and training is also an important trait in this position. * Communication - Team Leads will find themselves the "middleperson" between management and their colleagues it is imperative to be able to clearly relay instructions and procedures so that all tasks are completed accurately and on time. * Time management - Production lines run on strict schedules; Team Leads must manage their own time as well as the time of those around them. The ability to address issues before they happen is key to keeping production running smoothly. * Problem-solving skills - when issues with production arise, Team Leads must think quickly and proactively to resolve them as soon as possible. Troubleshooting with quick resolve. * Computer skills - Leads are expected to complete paperwork and data entry tasks which may require the use of a computer. * Demonstrate accountability and follow-through. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, talk, and/or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, sit, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds regularly, and up to 50 pounds occasionally with assistance.
