West Virginia University Institute of Technology (WVU Tech), part of the WVU system of campuses located in Beckley, WV is currently accepting applications for a Director of Counseling and Wellness Programs. About the Opportunity: The Director of Counseling and Wellness Programs will be responsible for directing the administration of and performing the clinical responsibilities of a mental health clinic. Consultation and outreach will be provided to the students and their families, WVU Tech faculty and staff, and the university community. Additionally, this position will provide brief counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and couples with diverse presenting concerns. This position is also responsible for the supervision of staff, student interns, and various contractual staff. What you'll do:
- Directs the administrative and clinical responsibilities of a mental health office, including supervision of staff
- Provides brief counseling and psychotherapy for individuals, groups, and couples with diverse presenting concerns
- Conducts intake evaluations, assessments, triages, consultation, and crisis intervention services, along with walk-in and after-hours phone consultations
- Provides consultation and outreach to students, their families, and the university community
- Completes required documentation and quality assurance activities including routine monitoring and management of student treatment compliance in alignment with agency policies and state/federal regulations
- Monitor budget and grant funding, including purchasing and reconciliations
- Assuring compliance with HIPPA regulations and licensure compliance
- Attends and participates in case conferences, committees, task forces, and other meetings related to the mission of WVU Tech Student Life
- Develop and evaluate annual goals and objectives for all mental health services
- Work with wellness and outreach staff to maintain a resource and referral network, including places for advocacy work, student resources (both on campus and in the community), and helping to organize wellness events
- Provides educational outreach to campus community regarding psychological concerns
- Provides clinical supervision to interns, trainees, staff, and contractual employees
- Facilitates seminars on clinical or professional topics related to Student Health & Wellness
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications
- Master's degree or higher required in Counseling, Social Work, Clinical Psychology, or similar field (Counseling preferred)
- Experience working with short-term models of counseling and psychotherapy
- Crisis management and intervention skill on a broad range of issues
- Working with young adult populations (18-25)
- Working in the areas of addiction and recovery a plus
- Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
- All qualifications must be met by the time of employment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Demonstrated knowledge of computer PC systems software including Banner, Microsoft Office, web browsers, social media, etc.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills as well as multitask
- Ability to make independent decisions and exercise sound clinical judgement
- Ability to work well on a team
- Strong intervention skills on a broad range of issues
- Communication/Public Relation skills (both oral and written)
- Knowledgeable in student development and leadership
- Good interpersonal skills
- Commitment to effective counseling with a diverse student population that includes students of different racial and ethnic backgrounds, diverse sexual and gender identities, socio-economic status, religious beliefs, and abilities or accessibility issues
Requirements
- Licensed in the State of West Virginia as an LCSW, LCISW, or LPC
- Supervisor credential preferred
- A Valid Driver's License
