Qualifications

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION-:

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Bachelor's degree in nursing or currently enrolled in bachelor's program

EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 3 years' experience in specialty service required. Progressive leadership experience is desirable with proven track record of success in program management.

SPECIAL SKILLS:

Demonstrates knowledge of safety, quality and regulatory requirements in psychiatry.

Demonstrates leadership abilities and interpersonal skills.

Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written.

Ability to work independently, organize complex projects and establish priorities.

Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with all members of the health care team.

ACCOUNTABILITY (how this position is held accountable for such as goals achievement, budget adherence, or other areas of accountability): Demonstrates excellence in Nurse and Charge Nurse roles. Performs any and all RN and charge nurse responsibilities as necessary to facilitate patient care and operational efficiency.

COMPLEXITY (describe planning, problem solving, decision making, creative activity, or other special factors inherent in the responsibilities of this position): In personal and job-related decisions and actions, consistently demonstrates the values of integrity (doing the right thing), patient-centered (putting patients and families first), respect (valuing all people and embracing all differences), accountability (being responsible and taking action), and compassion (being empathetic).

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: Licensed and a currently registered nurse in the State of Connecticut. All newly hired Registered Nurses must have a current BCLS certification or obtain within one month of hire.

INFORMATIONAL

SPECIAL WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL DEMAND: Requires prolonged standing; walking; use of sight, hearing and touch; moving/lifting patients of varying weights. Incumbents as well as external and internal applicants who become disabled must be able to perform the essential job functions with or without the assistance of reasonable accommodation as determined on a case by case basis.
