Job Summary:

The Safety Officer oversees the Hospital Safety program and is designated as the Hospital Safety Officer. He/she is responsible for the integration of the Safety Committee into the primary functions and objectives of the facility. The position integrates federal, state, and local safety standards into facility practice. He/she develops and implements policies and procedures that guide and support the facility's compliance with standards of safety and regulatory agencies and complements environmental standards in the state. The position ensures the facility follows ACHC, Medicare, State, OSHA, CAP, Life Safety Codes and other accrediting and licensing agencies. Responsibilities include planning, development, implementation and evaluation of the hospital safety programs, and preparing and submitting annual reports and management plans. Provides direction to all departments in collaboration with Infection Control, Engineering, Clinical Engineering, Quality Management/ Accreditation, Risk Management, Security, Employee Health, Laboratory, Environmental Services, Radiology and others as appropriate.

Minimum Education, Training and Experience Required:

Bachelor Degree required (Safety, Emergency Management or Health Care).

Three years safety management experience required.

Knowledgeable on Life Safety Codes, regulation and Standards.

Knowledgeable about air monitoring and fire suppression equipment.
