Compensation Range: $51,100 -$64,000
(Compensation may vary based on applicant's work experience, education level, skill set, and/or location.)

Job Purpose

ABSL is seeking an experienced full-time Senior Quality Technician to monitor manufacturing and test processes by performing inspections and testing of product and equipment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Performs incoming inspection on purchased parts and associated paperwork.
  • Performs quality control inspection of hardware to aerospace standards, drawings and work instructions. Includes at a minimum: safe to mate electrical connections, polymeric applications, soldering operations, cable/crimp/harness operations, and general workmanship.
  • Ensures all necessary paperwork and processes are completed following a non-conformance incident to allow build to continue.
  • Conducts reviews and close out activities of build and test documentation to ensure compliance to QMS procedures.
  • Performs appropriate measurements of product using mechanical or electrical measuring devices (calipers, micrometers, height gages, CMM, etc) as well as durometer hardness testing.
  • Be subject matter expert for Quality Technician topics and train Quality Technicians to all processes while ensuring compliance.
  • Revise or provide significant input to new process documentation.
  • Assists in root cause investigations during non-conformances.
  • Follows all safety, ESD, FOD, and contamination control procedures and offers suggestions for improvements.
  • Recommends process improvement initiatives and leads implementation efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned by Quality Manager or Quality Inspection Supervisor.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma w/ 7+ years' experience OR associates degree w/ 5+ years as inspector in high-reliability company, preferably in the aerospace or medical industry. Prior supervisory experience a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team atmosphere as a contributing member.
  • Able to work with minimal supervision on most assignments.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. in accordance with OSHA requirements.
  • High attention to detail and ability interpret engineering drawings and procedures.
  • Able to occasionally travel to support off-site processes.
  • Ability and experience utilizing magnification aids to perform inspection tasks.
  • Prior or current certifications for following NASA/IPC certifications (including vision far, near, and color testing to NASA 8739 series requirements):
    • NASA 8739.1 Conformal Coating & Staking (Polymerics Inspection)
    • IPC-620 w/ Space Addendum (Cable, Harness and Crimp) or NASA 8739.4 Cable, Crimp, and Harness (Inspection).
    • IPC J-STD-001 w/Space Addendum (Solder).
  • Proficiency in operation of CMM (Coordinate Measurement Machine).
  • Computer competency (proficient in MS Word, Excel, Outlook, MRP, electronic build instructions, etc.).
