This position is remote/residence based in the greater Detroit, Michigan area.

The Sales Account Manager Engineering Plastics (EP), Mobility will develop and implement strategies for specific accounts and maintain customer relationship to meet customer needs and increase the company's revenue through identifying sales opportunities.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies for the respective accounts including the communication of targets and relevant KPI's to the team to promote profitability growth of customer portfolio
  • Negotiate relevant aspects (contracts, pricing, rebates, payment) with accounts in alignment with global agreements and requirements to optimize sales
  • Gain and share general market and industry intelligence as well as possible business opportunities to influence business objectives and facilitate decision making involving relevant internal stakeholders
  • Coordinate and monitor all commercial operational activities and project pipeline at the respective accounts and the company's competitors to ensure smooth processes and appropriate response strategies
  • Develop and maintain customer relationship through direct contact, identification of touch points and key decision makers and managing customer complaints to ensure customer satisfaction
  • Identify unmet and/or future customers' needs to realize growth opportunities
  • Develop and offer proposals for the account and their value chain
  • Develop, prepare and monitor forecast of customer's demand and regular updates to facilitate business steering

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, business related field or similar with a 6+ years of professional experience; OR Master's Chemical Engineering, Material Engineering, business related field or similar with 4+ years of professional experience
  • Substantial experience in account management, injection molding plastics sales and business development in the Automotive Industry

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in project management and cross-regional teams

Knowledge and Skills

  • Expertise in sales of Plastic Injection molding products to Tier 1 of the Automotive industry
  • Success in closing deals, identifying potential clients, understanding the features and benefits of products or services
  • Strong sales capabilities and interpersonal skills.
  • Problem solving skills and ability to deal with ambiguity
  • Ability to clearly express thoughts and ideas, both orally and written for conducting effective discussions with the accounts and Covestro personnel
  • Willingness / Ability to travel 50% of the time for customers or office visits as required
