Assistant Track and Field Coach (full-time, 10-months) - Athletics - Division of Student Affairs

Carnegie Mellon University is seeking applicants for a full-time assistant coach in its intercollegiate Track and Field program. A national research university, Carnegie Mellon is a member of the NCAA Division III intercollegiate sports program. This full-time, 10-month position is benefits eligible and works from mid-August through mid-June.

Core responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Recruitment of potential student-athletes

  • Demonstrate competency in technique instruction, motivation, and ability to conduct team and individual practice sessions under the direction of the head coach

  • Specific events to coach will be based on applicant's experience and expertise, and the ability to plan and conduct training for those specific events.

  • Demonstrate sincere interest in personal, academic, and athletic progress of student-athletes

  • Exhibit supportive and cooperative behavior pursuing sport program goals set by the head coach

  • Leadership ability and professional behavior when working with student-athletes

  • Ability to monitor and coach S-A weight training

  • Ability to work with the XC/T&F Program's social media accounts, which includes developing content for recruits, parents, and alumni

  • Assist head coach with organization and implementation of daily practice sessions and meets

  • Transporting team in vans or cars to meets and off campus practice locations

  • Ability to work outside of normal business hours and on weekends

  • Teaching in the physical education program, as requested

  • Covering shifts at recreation desks, as needed

  • Assist with planning and implementing community service projects for S-A

  • Knowledge of NCAA Division III, UAA Conference rules and policies

  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred

  • 1-3 years of collegiate coaching experience preferred or experience as a successful collegiate competitor

  • A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is proven may be considered.
