General Ledger Lease Accountant

SUMMARY:

Responsible for performing professional accounting duties related to the preparation, maintenance and reporting of financial data. Responsible for inputting and extracting lease transactions into our lease software as well as reporting for ASC842 and monthly rent payments.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS



  • Manages and prepares journal entries to ensure proper general ledger coding; including validating accuracy and ensuring that transactions are reported in accordance with accounting standards.
  • Captures and tracks accurate lease information such as base rent schedules, escalation terms, start/end dates of leases, rent commencement dates, free rent periods, option terms, square footage, serial numbers, VINs, lease terms, and costs
  • Implements lease standards for new or changing lease agreements (ASC 842).
  • Extracts Monthly Lease Payments for Accounts Payable and Entry.
  • Performs general account analysis and reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.
  • Assists in Review, approval and processing expense reports for payment.
  • Assists in Maintaining current state tax laws to ensure processes are in place and deadlines are met for sales tax and unclaimed property.
  • Assists in the preparation of Federal, State and Property tax returns and filings, as well as various state requirements including business license, rent and COI requests within required deadlines, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting or other requirements.
  • Assists with month-end and year-end close process and production of corresponding financial statements.
  • Provides service to designated Operations locations as their point of contact for accounting related tasks.
  • Contributes to the efficiency and effectiveness of the department's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team.
  • Promotes and supports the overall mission of Pace Analytical by demonstrating courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with customers and staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:

Associates degree in accounting, or a closely related field; AND two (2) years of professional accounting experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience

Required Knowledge and Skills

Required Knowledge:



  • Principles and practices of general accounting. GAAP
  • Policies and procedures; codes and regulations related to duties assigned.
  • Computer applications related to the work.
  • Financial record keeping and accounting practices and techniques.
  • Correct business English, including spelling, grammar and punctuation.
  • Practices of reviewing financial documents for completeness and accuracy.

  • Maintaining accurate financial records and preparing accurate and timely reports.
