Pharmacy Technician

JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE: Under the direction of the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor, the Pharmacy Technician performs day to day activities to support pharmacy operations. The technician functions in accordance with standard written procedures, guidelines, and state and federal regulations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Perform cashier duties, answer phones and assist with inventory and stock shelves as needed,
• Route information to the Pharmacy Technician Supervisor regarding any incident that occurs during the shift,
• Assist with responding to the needs and inquiries, and strives for a safe and secure environment for patients, staff and visitors,
• Fill prescriptions efficiently and accurately as directed by the Pharmacist,
• Update patient records in accordance to pharmacy guidelines and state/federal regulations,
• Complete special projects as assigned,
• Maintain technical competency and remain current in technology and changes in the industry,
• Complete and maintain all required paperwork, records, documents, etc.,
• Follow and comply with all safety and work rules and regulations. Maintain departmental housekeeping standards,
• Other duties may be assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

Requires a High School Diploma or Certificate of Equivalency and 2-3 years experience a plus; or a combination of education and experience. General chemistry knowledge, proficient in all job functions of the Pharmacy technician, and demonstrates supervisory and coaching skills.
