Position Summary


The Data Engineer will work within an agile development team providing effective technical solutions through the design, implementation, and testing of Microsoft BI technologies. The candidate will work close with business analysts to understand and assist in gathering requirements, create work breakdown structures, and maintain change management using Azure DevOps. Good communication and presentation skills are required to work with team members and stakeholders while being able to provide demonstrations of data repositories, ETL processes, and other deliverables.


Duties and Accountabilities1



  • Design, develop, implement, and maintain business intelligence using Microsoft BI technologies
  • Understand and implement data modeling using best practices and star schema design
  • Analyze complex data from multiple sources including SQL Server databases and Analysis Services Tabular models
  • Experience with Microsoft Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, and Azure SQL Database for building and managing scalable data solutions
  • Collaborate with business analysts and subject matter experts to gather requirements and provide technical expertise
  • Distill complex business concepts and data into readily understood data structures and repositories for key stakeholders to drive their business performance
  • Develop relationships with our internal functional groups, to improve the quality and availability of high-value data
  • Work in collaboration with data and analytics governance members to improve our data structure
  • Stay up to date on emerging technologies and make recommendations where applicable


Qualifications



  • At least five (5) years' experience in delivering business intelligence solutions
  • Bachelor's degree in a technology or engineering field, or equivalent combination of experience
  • Intermediate experience with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft SQL Server Integration Services, Extract Load Transform (ELT) methodologies, and data architecture
  • Experience with modern cloud data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, or Snowflake, with a focus on scalable data processing and analytics
  • Strong working knowledge of: data warehouse star schema modeling, T-SQL, and best practices in query design and optimization
  • Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) concepts and agile methodology
  • Comfortable working with colleagues at all levels within the firm; strong interpersonal skills
  • Flexible self-starter comfortable with tackling new projects independently while also being able to take direction from senior staff
  • Ability to clearly explain both business and technical BI concepts; superior communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to quickly learn new software and technologies
  • Ability to work independently in a team environment, effectively manage time and tight deadlines; able to multitask


Location and Reporting



  • This role is based in our Tampa office.
  • This role reports to the Associate Director, Business Data & Integration.
