Summary

The Vice President of Mortgage is responsible for developing a robust mortgage strategy and the development, delivery, and performance of mortgage products and services across multiple markets. This leadership role will drive business growth, operational efficiency, exceptional member experiences, and strong compliance within mortgage lending. The VP will oversee all aspects of mortgage operations, including sales, product development, go-to-market execution, underwriting, processing, and servicing.



Duties & Responsibilities

    Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and implement a national mortgage strategy aligned with the credit union's growth goals and mission.
    • Identify market opportunities and tailor mortgage offerings to meet the diverse needs of members across regions.
    • Work closely with marketing, technology, member service, and finance teams to integrate mortgage services seamlessly into the broader member experience.
  • Sales & Product Management:
    • Oversee national mortgage sales functions, including direct, indirect, and digital channels.
    • Lead the development and lifecycle management of mortgage products including conforming, non-conforming, portfolio, and government-backed loans.
    • Design and execute go-to-market strategies to drive volume, profitability, and member acquisition.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensure efficient, compliant, and member-focused mortgage operations including application, processing, underwriting, closing, and post-closing functions.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to optimize systems, automation, and workflows that enhance efficiency and reduce turn times.
  • Talent Management:
    • Build and lead a high-performing, geographically distributed team of mortgage professionals.
    • Recruit, develop, and retain top mortgage sales and operations talent.
    • Foster a performance-based culture with a focus on accountability, continuous improvement, and member service excellence.
  • Compliance & Risk Management:
    • Ensure adherence to federal and state regulatory requirements and internal policies.
    • Partner with compliance and risk teams to maintain a strong risk management framework.


Requirements

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in mortgage banking/lending, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven experience managing national or multi-state mortgage operations and sales teams.
  • Strong understanding of mortgage markets, regulatory landscape, secondary market practices, and digital lending technology.
