Are you a visionary Project Architect looking to take the next step in your career? Do you thrive on leading diverse and impactful projects from concept to completion? DLZ is looking for a Project Architect in our Lexington, Kentucky office - and your expertise could be exactly what we need.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with other DLZ architectural offices for business development, strategic alignment, workload sharing, and quality review processes.
  • Lead and execute architectural design assignments, applying specialized technical expertise and exercising independent professional judgment.
  • Serve as a key client contact - you'll solve problems, provide direction, build lasting relationships, and ensure satisfaction from project initiation through completion.
  • Oversee projects from conceptualization through construction administration, including contract preparation (Standard AIA and DLZ contracts), budgeting, scheduling, and scope definition.
  • Develop innovative design concepts and solutions for complex architectural challenges, conducting studies of new methods, codes, processes, and materials.
  • Manage and mentor junior architectural staff, directing the development of detailed design and construction documents.
  • Participate in regional business development by assisting with proposal preparation, attending client meetings, conferences, and industry events.
  • Explore teaming opportunities with other firms.
  • Drive quality control, ensure adherence to design excellence, and manage project schedules and budgets to deliver quality results.
  • Coordinate architectural efforts with engineering groups, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Perform construction contract administration, including bid analysis, contract awards, change order review, and pay request processing.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.

What You Bring:

  • NAAB-accredited professional degree in Architecture.
  • Registered Architect (RA) in Kentucky, or ability to obtain licensure within six months.
  • Proven experience in one or more of the following project sectors is preferred: Government, Institutional, Judicial, Justice, Municipal, Educational, Transit, Aviation, and/or Federal.
  • Proficiency in Revit and strong AutoCAD skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and collaborate effectively on concurrent projects with diverse design disciplines and internal design teams.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
  • Aptitude to act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
