We are seeking a Postdoctoral Researcher/Research Associate to support our NIH funded research programs investigating glial neuronal interactions in disease. Specifically we have several emphasis areas: 1.) We study the role of reactive astrocytes in the etiology of Alzheimer's Disease (AD) using mouse models of AD. 2.) We are investigating the role of perineuronal nets and their association with astrocytes in seizure disorders (epilepsy). 3.) We are investigating the role of Glu transporters in tumor associated epilepsy. Required skills include animal handling, small animal survival surgery and experience in immunohistochemistry and confocal imaging. Desired skills include ability to perform EEG and/or patch-clamp recordings. We are a fun-loving, dynamic inclusive collaborative and multi-cultural laboratory. Postdoctoral employment is temporary and is normally limited to an individual who has been awarded a Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate within the previous five years1 and who will be involved in full-time research or scholarship at the University. Employment as a Postdoctoral Research Associate is viewed as training and is preparatory for a full-time academic or research career, is supervised by a senior scholar, and allows the appointee to publish the results of his/her research or scholarship during the training period.
Minimum Requirements This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The position will remain open until filled. This is an Exempt level, benefitted position.
