Description

The employee must operate all equipment to include Pacer, Turret Truck, Order Picker, and Walkie/Rider and work at elevations of 35 feet wearing Personal Protective Equipment - Safety Harness. They are required to work in other areas and other locations as assigned based on workload.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.



  • Picks product to offset shortages in the Pick Module.
  • Inspects product to ensure it is free of damage and the correct count.
  • Uses various devices for picking (scanners and Pick-To-Voice).
  • Places pallets on third level.
  • Picks books by hand from locations to fill orders.
  • Packs books/components in cartons using various dunnage materials to eliminate damage in transit.
  • Ensures that all work instructions are followed exactly and updates the lead or supervisor when completed.
  • Uses computer systems and instructions to return product to inventory.
  • Assists other departments operating equipment moving, locating, and picking product.
  • Assists in resolving any discrepancies.
  • Assists in cycle counting.
  • Unloads trucks with rolling equipment.
  • Uses WMS to retrieve information.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly work area.
  • Conducts operations in a manner which promotes safety.
  • Follows established safety, health, and housekeeping policies and procedures in order to minimize injuries, loss of production time, and damage.
  • Conforms to all company policies and procedures (Employee Handbook)
  • Complies with all environmental, health, and safety requirements.
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondences, and memos, write legibly and effectively present information one-on-one in the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Must have a keyboarding skills and a working knowledge of WMS.
  • Must be able to walk; stand; talk, or hear; use hands to handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb stairs.
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Work at elevations of 35' wearing a fully-body harness.

Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.

Language Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, correspondences, and memos, write legibly and effectively present information one-on-one and small group situations of employees in the organization.

Mathematical Skills:
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.

Reasoning Ability:
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one or two-step instructions, and to deal with standardized structure with only occasional or no variables.

Other skills and abilities:
Computer skills to include basic knowledge of PCs and keyboarding and a working knowledge of WMS. Must be able to operate a turret truck, order picker, Pacer, forklift, reach truck, walkie/rider, pallet jack, and work at elevations of 35' feet wearing PPE (safety harness).
