Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Water Resources Engineer to join our water and natural resources practice and work out of our Davis, California office. This position involves collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team of professionals across the state and west coast and will focus on project management, client development, teambuilding, and professional development of supporting staff in areas including water resources engineering, integrated watershed planning, sustainable groundwater management, natural resource management, water supply reliability, civil infrastructure design, permitting, and stakeholder and community engagement, primarily serving clients within the Water and Natural Resources Sector. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Developing, leading, and managing water resource planning, engineering, and management studies, including groundwater, surface water, conservation, and/or restoration projects;
- Building and managing multi-disciplinary teams and developing technical skills of junior staff through project work;
- Tracking water and groundwater policy at the state level and supporting clients in developing and implementing policy at the local level;
- Identifying, tracking, and pursuing grant funding opportunities for projects and clients;
- Evaluating climate impacts to projects, communities, and natural resources;
- Leading or supporting planning, design, or management of resources for climate resilience;
- Preparing for and participating in meetings with clients, stakeholders, regulatory personnel, and other parties;
- Effectively stewarding and building client relationships to earn repeat business;
- Developing business opportunities with new and existing clients and preparing associated proposals;
- Promote the firm and our practice at conferences and professional organizations networking meetings;
- Managing multiple projects within the scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensuring quality standards on project deliverables; and
- Managing the overall delivery of projects including, project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management.
Education and Licensure
- Bachelor's degree in environmental science, environmental engineering, civil engineering or other applicable related degree. (required)
- Advanced degree in the same. (preferred)
- Professional registration (i.e., P.E.) in the State of CA. (required)
Skills, Experience and Qualifications
- At least eight years of experience in the water resources field in the United States, preferably in California and the Western U.S. or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
- Experience with multi-disciplinary project teams. (required)
- Experience in groundwater and surface water planning and management (required)
- Experience in conservation and/or restoration planning (required)
- Experience in grant funding tracking, application, and management (preferred)
- Proven track record in project management. (required)
- Experience managing the overall delivery of projects, including project planning and controls, financial management, change management, risk management, and contract/subcontract management. (required)
- Experience with community engagement and working with stakeholder groups. (preferred)
- Experience with natural systems design including ecological restoration and/or stream restoration. (preferred)
- Ability to succeed in a fast-paced consulting environment, handling multiple project assignments, meeting strict deadlines, and traveling to client facilities as needed. (required)
- Excellent writing and communication skills. (required)
- Experience with modeling and design software tools such as EPA-SWMM, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, AutoCAD, and ArcGIS. (preferred)
- Ability and willingness to perform fieldwork and travel on a limited basis. (required)
- Current OSHA 40-hr HAZWOPER training and refreshers. (preferred)
- Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
- Valid U.S. driver's license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
This opportunity will be posted for at least five days. Below are the potential compensation ranges that we in good faith believe are applicable for this role at the time of this posting and are only applicable for jobs to be performed in the specified location(s) below. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Geosyntec's total compensation package for employees. Actual compensation will be determined based on education, experience, skill set and location.
- Minimum Salary: $124,620/year / Maximum Salary: $174,470/year (Davis, CA)
