We are currently searching for an experienced Transportation Design Section Manager to support our West Region located in Colorado.

To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, PE in CO, 15 years of progressive transportation/roadway experience, and 5+ experience working with CDOT.

What you'll be doing:

  • Principal in Charge for all engineering design aspects of our Colorado office (marketing and operations)
  • Be a practice builder - growing services, clients, and geography
  • Serve as the lead with key client and contract management
  • Recruit, develop and retain staff
  • Manage transportation projects to meet financial and technical requirements
  • Writing proposals
  • Participating and/or leading interviews
  • Performing contract negotiations
  • Project work planning
  • Supervising the execution of work
  • Prepare and deliver technical presentations
  • Participate in marketing and business development

What you need to have:

  • B.S. or M.S. in Civil engineering from ABET accredited engineering program
  • Licensed Colorado P.E.
  • 15+ years of progressive transportation/roadway experience
  • 5+ years of experience in management of engineering and support staff
  • Must be proficient with MicroStation (required) and OpenRoads (preferred)
  • Possess a strong understanding of project management
  • The ability to project manage AND assist in the production of design deliverables
  • Experience working with CDOT
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening to ensure a safe and productive work environment. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for substances such as marijuana. Please note that federal regulations may differ from state-specific guidelines
  • Valid driver's license
  • A satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR)
