Director of Operations SUMMARY Cremer is seeking an energetic, strategic, people-focused manufacturing leader to support the company's Cincinnati complex comprising three production facilities. This position will provide inspirational leadership and create a "Best in Class" culture and highly engaged workforce with a focus on driving manufacturing performance through a World Class Manufacturing operating system, continuous improvement, innovation, and high-impact business results. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations, the Site Leader will be accountable for the most complex, yet profitable manufacturing facilities within the company. The role will be based at Cremer's North American headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio and the complex has approximately 325 employees. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate for the role will be an authentic people leader with a progressive career as exhibited by increasing manufacturing responsibility in a highly sophisticated, process manufacturing environment. Ideally, s/he will have across multiple, diverse manufacturing sites and possess significant experience in specialty chemicals, liquid consumer home products or petrochemicals manufacturing. S/he will have a track record of influencing plant leadership teams to drive cultural change and World Class operational excellence improvements. POSITION REQUIREMENTS Education, Credentials, Licenses:
- B.S. Engineering, ideally in chemical or process engineering, operations management, or related sciences.
- Preference for MBA
- Preference for Lean Six Sigma certification
Kind & Length of Experience:
- 15+ years relevant manufacturing leadership experience in the process manufacturing sector, including specialty chemicals, intermediates, liquid consumer products, and/or petrochemicals.
- +5 years, prior director or plant management leadership roles with experience in a multi-site, multi-product manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated knowledge and abilities in end-to-end process manufacturing operations - process flow, materials management and resource planning, quality assurance, S&OP, planning & scheduling to meet sales / production goals.
- Experience in a larger, more mature organization with established and "best-in-class" processes, systems, and culture, would be highly desired
- Track record of driving improved performance, cultural change / transformation, and improvements in process safety, operational excellence, and reliability programs.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience with continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., World Class Manufacturing, Lean / Six Sigma, etc.).
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and team building skills with the ability to influence people across all levels, from the production floor to the Boardroom.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Track record in leading, attracting, and developing engineering and manufacturing talent in order to build a successful pipeline of talent for succession.
PERFORMANCE MEASURES AND STANDARDS
- Responsible for developing and leading a multi- manufacturing plant organization that drives World Class Manufacturing results and continuous improvement on an on-going basis.
- Accountable for developing and achieving the annual operating plan and manufacturing budget for the Cincinnati complex manufacturing organization.
- Bring in operational discipline and create a culture of "best-in-class" process manufacturing operations through WCM operational excellence and improved reliability programs.
- Identify and deploy key operational performance metrics (KPIs) to focus on: Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Productivity, and People
- Support plant technical resources to reduce the unplanned downtime and drive a culture change from reactive to predictive/preventative maintenance methodologies.
- Execute financial strategies by estimating, forecasting, and anticipating requirements, trends, and variances; aligning monetary resources; developing action plans; measuring and analyzing results; initiating corrective actions and by minimizing the impact of variances.
- Working in a multi-functional environment, effectively partners with the businesses, functions, including HR, Quality, EHSS, Supply Chain and Sales teams to ensure the most effective approaches for manufacturing to support a World Class Manufacturing organization.
- Produce products that meet customer expectations by formulating, installing, and enforcing strong process improvement, reliability, and World Class operational excellence practices; developing and improving production and engineering processes; designing production planning and control systems and procedures; developing and enforcing inspection and quality assurance standards, procedures, and methods.
- Continues to attract, develop and retain manufacturing team members to build and grow a talent pipeline for the company's manufacturing functions.
- Drive a World Class Manufacturing and continuous improvement mindset with plant leaders that drives process, efficiency and safety standards throughout the operations.
- Responsible for day-to-day management of the manufacturing plants to achieve the budgeted operating profit targets driving performance through the Plant Managers and World Class Manufacturing operating system.
- Review monthly operating and financial pack to determine progress and status in obtaining objectives and revise plans as necessary in accordance with current conditions to meet the overall objectives.
- Drive standardization across plants and operations where appropriate
