Job Description

The Associate Director of R&D QA (RDQA) Analytics, Center of Excellence (ACE) is responsible for supporting the management and effective delivery of both large and small-scale ACE analytics and business initiatives in support of all business units within R&D Quality Assurance (RDQA). These initiatives are focused on establishing and leveraging the most effective business tools, systems and processes required, creating a data environment that can be used for data-driven operational quality oversight of programs and strategic evidence-based planning activities. Additionally, through collaborations with the Global Quality Analytics Department (QUAD), Clinical Data Management, Data Technology and Engineering (DTE) and other functions, they are expected to build and maintain strong relationships while pushing for the development of optimal systems, processes and data infrastructure that ensures consistency and cross functional alignment across the organization and enables powerful and predictive data-driven insights that mitigate risk and foster a proactive and informed One-State-of-Quality culture.

The Associate Director ACE utilizes data analytics skills and tools to analyze vertex data systems and procedures to recommend and implement strategic process improvements with an aim to enable the R&D Quality organization (RDQA) to expand and improve data collection, analysis and interpretation. This role will support the RDQA quality analytics center of excellence driving progressive quality strategies and programs as the Vertex organization continues to grow and evolve in a dynamic and innovative way. The individual will support developing and delivering integrated, cross-modality, and cross-GxP metrics and analysis that support quality governance, operational QA management oversight, and evaluation of the health of core QMS systems, among others.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, Develop, and maintain user-friendly data visualizations and dashboards using complex datasets from different sources.
  • Support the active management of metrics program and Quality data analytics activities.
  • Develop and implement data analyses, data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Create ad-hoc data models, reports and analysis as needed to support business requirements.
  • Leverage deep technical and analytical expertise to understand critical business opportunities and generate insights for action.
  • Continuously explore and evaluate new methods to improve the way data analytics is used to create value
  • Acquiring and modeling data from primary or secondary sources
  • Interpreting data, analyzing results using statistical techniques to provide and optimize ongoing visualizations
  • Identifying, analyzing, and interpreting trends or patterns in complex data sets
  • Develop descriptive, diagnostic and predictive analytics to provide insights from data

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to turn data into information that helps drive decisions.
  • Highly skilled in in data modeling, leveraging analytical languages and tools (e.g. Python, R, SAS, SQL, Alteryx)
  • Strong data visualization skills and experience with relevant tools (e.g. Spotfire, Power BI, and/or Tableau).
  • Experience with utilizing scripting languages to leverage APIs (REST APIs etc.,)
  • Strong oral, written and presentation skills with ability to explain complex concepts clearly to a variety of audiences
  • Understanding of industry requirements/expectations of a Clinical Quality Management System and Clinical Trial Management
  • Current knowledge of industry trends and best practices- for progressive quality management in a regulated environment
  • Strong problem solving and critical thinking skills, accompanied by Analytical thinking/Data Analysis skills required to make sound decisions

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in a scientific or allied health field (or equivalent degree)
  • Typically requires 8 years of work experience and 2 years of management experience, or the equivalent combination of education and experience

Pay Range:

$152,000 - $228,000

Disclosure Statement:

The range provided is based on what we believe is a reasonable estimate for the base salary pay range for this job at the time of posting. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements. Actual base salary pay will be based on a number of factors, including skills, competencies, experience, and other job-related factors permitted by law.

In this Remote-Eligible role, you can choose to be designated as:
1. Remote: work remotely five days per week and come into the office on occasion - you're always welcome on-site; or select

3. On-Site: work five days per week on-site with ad hoc flexibility.
