ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES



  • Maintains accounting principles, internal controls practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Participates in the monthly and annual general ledger closing process and assists with preparation of financial statements.
  • Prepares journal entries, both standard and non-recurring, and assists with the verification of transactions to ensure appropriateness, accuracy, and validity.
  • Prepares reconciliations of general ledger accounts on a routine basis and upon special request, to ensure that balances are accurate, and records comply with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Supports FP&A in the preparation and monitoring of the Annual Operating and Capital Budgets
  • Provides support for the preparation of quarterly individual and consolidated financial statements.
  • Works closely with Controller and accounting staff to complete external annual audit requirements.
  • Prepares audit schedules, reports, and analyses for external audit requests.
  • Recommends development of process improvements to promote departmental efficiency.
  • Provides support in preparation of special reports, accounting analyses, allocations, and assists with special projects, as requested.
  • Prepares reconciliation for intercompany billing.
  • Provides technical assistance to corporate personnel and cross trains within the accounting departments.
  • Ensures adherence to the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • The ability to handle stress and work well with others are essential functions of this position.
  • Performs any other related duties as required or assigned.
  • Due to our obligation to provide continuous, reliable electric service to our customers, the ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance and the ability to work outside your regularly scheduled office hours when necessary is an essential function of the job.



Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, plus at least five years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Strong working knowledge of US GAAP and preferred knowledge of utility accounting practices

REQUIRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Master's Degree or comparable professional licensure

PREFERRED CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Project Cost Accounting Experience

Certified Public Accountant
