Manager, UX Content Design

As part of Thomson Reuters' Global Design Organization, our UX Content Design team crafts clear, consistent, succinct language in partnership with many groups across the organization to design successful, innovative product experiences.

About The Role

As a Manager for the UX Content Design team, you will partner with UX design, research, product, development, and additional peers to drive compelling, useful, usable, and accessible UX content experiences within a selected area of focus across digital commerce, customer success, and cloud-based products/mobile apps for diversified audiences in the Tax, Accounting, Trade, and Legal spaces.

As a Manager, UX Content Design you will:

  • Manage multiple direct reports (helping each set and maintain progress toward individual goals by conducting regular check-ins, and completing other people manager duties)
  • Coach and manage team members' work outputs and provide content direction in review and critique sessions
  • Communicates and presents effectively to a wide variety of stakeholders across the larger design org
  • Evangelize, socialize, and align UX Content Design vision and contributions to Senior Leadership and peers
  • Ensure customer voice and Product Vision are embedded in team outputs, with prioritization and trade-offs based on customer and business value
  • Able to influence strategy and outcomes
  • Keep up with business goals and priorities, and align team/individual work and focus accordingly
  • Maintain progress with AI developments, trends, and tools
  • Understand and communicate how Content Design can intersect with and influence our AI functions
  • Socialize and align cross-functional stakeholders toward a single UXC strategy, vision, and plan
  • Support UXC testing by prioritizing work to help identify iterative improvements in the product
  • Lead and/or participate in:
    • Contribution to the organization's larger design system
    • Defining voice & tone elements for both disparate and connected experiences
    • Influencing partner teams regarding content design best practices
    • Identifying gaps, and their solutions, within and across team processes
  • Understand the importance of primary and secondary research as well as both qualitative and quantitative inputs on approach to language, tone, and content
  • Lead team in contributing to design tests in partnership with UX Design and Research to help identify iterative improvements
  • Demonstrate people leadership skills, across tactical and strategic areas and varying levels of UX Content Designers (mid-level to Lead)
  • Attract and develop great talent, raising the bar as needed
  • Ensure team delivers on expectations, communicating clear goals that support the delivery of impactful work against team OKR's (Objectives and Key Results)
  • Set talent development and diversity goals, demonstrate progress
  • Demonstrate effective decision-making logic and processes
  • Identify development areas and provide timely feedback and coaching to direct reports; effectively address under-performance

  • Help build foundational processes, standards, metrics definition, and engagement protocols that promote efficiency and facilitate top-value partnerships across UX, product, and development teams
  • Finds opportunities for team to flex and to leverage skills specific to theirs on background or creative approach

About You

You're a fit for this role if you have:

  • 10+ years of progressive professional experience including 6-8 combined years of digital content writing, UX writing, content strategy, and/or content design; and 3+ years of leading and managing content teams
  • Experience with leading UX content efforts in complex software experiences/programs/apps
  • Experience with efficiently working with globally distributed teams
  • Expert understanding of agile UX approach to creative outputs and partnership with design, research, product, and development partners
  • Familiarity with product usage analytics tools such as Pendo, AEM, Google Analytics, etc., understanding and oversight of UX content KPIs/success metrics; exposure to means/methods of measuring UX content success
  • Familiarity with work management and workflow platforms, design/writing collaboration tools, Microsoft Office applications, and document/chat/video collaboration tools (examples may include programs like Azure DevOps, Jira, Figma, Lucid, Miro, Teams, PowerPoint, Excel, PowerBI, or others)
  • Familiarity with AI tools
  • Familiarity with AODA and/or WCAG 2.1 AA/AAA accessibility guidelines as they relate to UX content
  • Portfolio showcasing Content Design skills and leadership
  • Bachelor's degree in writing, communications, HCI, or related focus

Thomson Reuters complies with local laws that require upfront disclosure of the expected pay range for a position. The base compensation range varies across locations.
For any eligible US locations, unless otherwise noted, the base compensation range for this role is $116,900 - $217,100.
This role may also be eligible for an Annual Bonus based on a combination of enterprise and individual performance.
Base pay is positioned within the range based on several factors including an individual's knowledge, skills and experience with consideration given to internal equity. Base pay is one part of a comprehensive Total Reward program which also includes flexible and supportive benefits and other wellbeing programs.
