About This Opportunity

JOB TITLE: Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor
POSITION TYPE: Full time
CLASSIFICATION: Exempt

Monday - Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm OR 7:00am - 4:00pm.
Overnight and Weekend coverage on an as needed basis.

Position Overview

The Wastewater Treatment Plant Supervisor is responsible for the efficient and effective operations of the wastewater treatment plant. They will also oversee the onsite environmental programs. This position will provide impact to the success of the organization by collaborating cross functionally to increase environmental sustainability education, reduce resource consumption, and ensure that we are doing our part to Take Care of Our World.

Key Accountabilities

Maintain effective operations of the WWTP:

  • Conduct daily laboratory analysis of the treatment system.

  • Troubleshoot and adjust operational parameters to maintain regulatory compliance.

  • Communicate cross functionally to optimize treatment technique.

  • Collaborate with the maintenance department to sustain a comprehensive preventative maintenance program.

  • Coordinate with external suppliers for removal of non-effluent waste streams.

Manage environmental programs for the site:

  • Ensure compliance with the Environmental Management Plan (EMP) by leading the program and promoting its benefits.

  • Conduct inspections and submit reports to State and Federal Regulatory agencies as needed.

  • Develop and deliver ongoing education and training on the importance of environmental sustainability.

  • Communicate with internal and external agencies in regard to program compliance.

Enhance policy, procedure, and communication to ensure continuous improvement:

  • Drive treatment optimization projects.

  • Produce new or improved practices, enhancing plant performance.

  • Review current policy and procedure to suggest room for improvement.

This role is accountable for ensuring that monitoring and/or verifying of control points occurs and that the required documentation is completed. For example, Critical Control Points(CCP), Preventive Controls(PC), Critical Quality Points(CQP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points(HACCP), and Safe Quality Food(SQF) plans. This is not an all-inclusive list.

Other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Associate degree (or equivalent) in Biology, Microbiology, Science, or Environmental Science, or a bachelor's degree in any of these areas.

    -OR-

  2. 3 years of experience in leading operations of a biological wastewater treatment system

Preferred Qualifications

  1. Certified Industrial Wastewater Operator in Activated Sludge

  2. 3 years of experience operating and Activated Sludge WWTP

Job Setting: On-site at the Wastewater Treatment Plant with the potential for call-ins in emergency situations.
