Job Description:

Perform duties to lead an Electrical Assembly Team in the installation and wiring of electrical components in large standard or custom HVAC units where multiple electrical panels of unique or complex configuration may be included requiring planning and laying out of most effective wiring, working within the limits of standard methods and procedures and making decisions as to sequence of operations as required.

Essential Functions:

  • Work from computerized Quality Management System (QMS) components including production schedules, inventory records, pull lists, bills of materials, Engineering Change Notifications (ECN), random cycle count lists, and work instructions.
  • Conduct starts of shift team meetings to communicate schedules, priorities, safety and production issues, and other information necessary to ensure that all team members are aware of shift requirements and pending issues.
  • Consult production schedule, pull lists and bills of materials, and manually modify records in MRP system to move materials committed to future builds to orders currently in production, as required, to maintain workflow.
  • Assign work in accordance with production schedules and standard procedures. Assist to resolve problems related to sub-assemblies, installation, and schedule adjustments.
  • Order specific wire for projects to ensure availability for production. Report on material shortages and ensure that purchasing is made aware of immediate materials requirements that may impact the status of work in process and production schedules.
  • Ensure that the locations of all physical inventory items are accurately recorded in computerized inventory system, including Defects per Unit (DPU) and Material Review Board (MRB) inventory awaiting disposition. Monitor and clear Engineering Change Notifications (ECN) to ensure the accuracy of pull lists and kitting operations.
  • Work alongside team members to configure placement and attach detectors, sensors, controllers, and other components, and install electrical panels in HVAC units including unique custom units where wiring diagrams or schematics may not be available and planning is required for wire selection type, size and routing to meet efficiency, operational, safety, and cosmetic specifications. Bend and layout piping as required to meet with plan requirements. Layout and drill holes based on wiring plan, cut and bundle wire, and pull and secure wires to ensure proper electrical operation of all components.
  • Wire sub-assemblies including standard electrical panels, motors, power supplies, blowers, and other units and install and connect to electrical panel. Prepare sensors and electrical units and apply labels and make wiring harnesses for standard units as required.
  • Perform any departmental work assignments to maintain workflow electrical assembly operations.
  • Record and track hours to specific jobs numbers. Ensure progressive productivity is achieved. Inspect each unit before movement to the next line function. Validate part numbers, revisions, and quantity, and inspect parts for damage. Examine assembly drawings for ensure they match BOM. Notify Supervisor of any component, part or drawing anomalies.
  • Ensure that team members are trained in the operation of required equipment, in the performance of job duties, and any range of operations required to complete the Condensing Assembler's tasks.
  • Report to Supervisor on safety concerns, work infractions, training requirements, and performance issues and recommend action to be taken in keeping with standard procedures.

Other Duties:

  • Perform or assist with any operations, as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition. Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Tools and Equipment:

Use hand tools, handheld power, and pneumatic tools, pallet jack, crane, brazing torch, torque wrench, micron gauge, leak detector, and other calibrated tools.

  • Foot Protection, Steel Toe - ASTM F2413-11

Physical Demand:

  • Occasionally push with up to 120 lbs. of force.
  • Occasionally push and pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 55 lbs.
  • Frequently stand, walk, bend, crouch, kneel, climb, maneuver, stoop, squat, grasp, and reach.
