Vaco is partnering with a growing organization in Costa Mesa to find a Payroll/HR Administrator for a temp-to-hire opportunity. This role is perfect for a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is experienced in managing manual payroll and HR processes while contributing to automation efforts.

What You'll Do:

Payroll

  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll for 160+ employees using ADP Workforce Now

  • Review timesheets, wages, and resolve discrepancies

  • Ensure accurate data entry for deductions, taxes, and benefits

  • Generate and analyze payroll reports as needed

  • Address and resolve payroll-related inquiries

Human Resources

  • Maintain employee data in ADP (new hires, status changes, garnishments)

  • Manage digital onboarding for new and rehired employees

  • Provide support and guidance on employee relations matters

  • Respond to HR-related questions on policies and procedures

  • Foster positive employee relations across departments

  • Assist in policy development and process improvement

Benefits Administration

  • Provide bi-weekly census data to benefits broker for updates and ACA tracking

  • Coordinate with leadership and broker on annual benefits renewal

  • Facilitate open enrollment meetings with vendors

  • Manage benefits deductions in ADP

What We're Looking For:

  • 5-7 years of HR generalist experience

  • Minimum 3 years of full-cycle, multi-state payroll experience for 150+ employees

  • Strong knowledge of wage and hour laws; moderate understanding of labor law compliance

  • Experience with HRIS/HCM systems (ADP Workforce Now preferred)

  • Comfortable working independently and managing multiple priorities

  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, Access)
