Job Description
The Phlebotomy Team Lead assists in monitoring the activities of couriers and/or phlebotomists working throughout the laboratory in various inpatient and outpatient settings. This position can make appropriate decisions in the absences of the department manager. This position functions as a phlebotomist and performs venipuncture on inpatients and/or outpatients (pediatrics thru geriatrics) to obtain blood for laboratory tests according to laboratory department procedures. This position is cross trained in all disciplines he/she monitors. This role maintains high visibility by working side by side team members ensuring services promised are provided to all laboratory customers. The individual in this role will manage up with customer service issues, employee recognitions and disciplinary issues and is instrumental in the peer review hiring process for couriers and/or phlebotomists. Responsibilities Responsible for the activities of phlebotomists and couriers within the laboratory.
