Essential Job Duties
The North Carolina State University Plants for Human health Institute ( PHHI) is an established Institute located on the NC Research Campus in Kannapolis, NC. The NC Research Campus was created to have all aspects of human health and nutrition in one place complimented by multiple state and private entities providing the academic and research resources. The PHHI currently houses researchers and staff from various departments including Horticulture Science, Food Bioprocessing and Nutrition Sciences, Plant and Microbial Sciences, Animal Science, Cooperative Extension, and NCARS.

Duties and Responsibilities

A Postdoctoral Research Scholar position in Nutrigenomics, Bioactives and Health is open in the laboratory of Dr. Milenkovic at the Plants for Human Health Institute at North Carolina State University. The Postdoctoral Research Scholar will work in ongoing projects related to plant food bioactives, health, omics and bioinformatics, both in-vitro and in-vivo.

The successful candidate in this position will focus on the effects of dietary bioactive compounds on cardiometabolic and cognitive functions and associated multigenomic changes. The candidate will explore using in vitro and in vivo studies to understand the role of phytochemicals in maintaining optimal health, and work with other team members to elucidate underlying molecular mechanisms of actions using multigenomics and bioinformatics.

Work Schedule Mon-Friday, 8am-5pm
Department Required Skills

  • Ph.D. in Nutrition, or Molecular and Cellular Biology or related field with a strong foundation in nutrition, health and genomics
  • Experience in gene expression techniques, molecular biology, and proteomics.
  • Experience in bioinformatic analysis of omics data
  • Experience in performing nutrition research in in-vitro and animal models.
  • Experience to collect and analyze data with appropriate statistical methods.
  • A strong foundation in interdisciplinary sciences. The candidate will work in a team-centered environment and will assist in training and supervising students and visiting scholars.
