The Associate Director, Targeting & Alignments is a client-facing leader responsible for designing and executing advanced targeting strategies, optimizing team size and structure, and enhancing territory alignments to drive brand performance. This role collaborates with clients ranging from analysts to C-suite executives and leverages diverse data sources (e.g., sales, call activity, practitioner, and third-party data) to deliver actionable insights. As a key driver of Syneos Health's strategic targeting service offerings, you'll lead innovative initiatives, support field team management, and champion data-driven decision-making to maximize customer engagement and business growth.

Key Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with client brand and operational leads, as well as Syneos team leads, to define field performance goals and develop tailored targeting strategies, team structures, and call plans.
  • Design and implement customer and territory analyses to optimize field engagement, increase selling efficiency, and enhance territory intelligence.
  • Develop integrated maps and analytics in an alignment software package.
  • Provide expert guidance on targeting, segmentation, and call plan development, collaborating with clients, internal leadership, and external partners.
  • Lead ongoing alignment adjustments, size/structure optimizations, and predictive modeling in partnership with Syneos and client leadership.
  • Analyze and interpret complex datasets to inform field team design and strategic recommendations.
  • Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to clients and internal stakeholders through compelling presentations and reports.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, articulating Syneos Health's targeting and alignment capabilities to clients and supporting business development efforts.
  • Collaborate with account activation and client services teams to ensure seamless project transitions from planning to execution, meeting contractual service-level agreements (SLAs).
  • Define and monitor internal metrics and SLAs to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Mentor and guide a small team of analysts, fostering a culture of innovation and excellence.

Job Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree (BA/BS) in business, analytics, life sciences, or a related field; advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MS) preferred.
  • Experience:
    • 6+ years in pharmaceutical sales operations, analytics, or related roles.
    • 3+ years leading U.S. field team design, customer targeting, and segmentation, with hands-on experience using territory mapping software (e.g., AlignStar, Javelin, or similar).
    • Proven track record of client-facing engagement with stakeholders at all levels (analyst to executive).

Skills & Competencies

  • Technical Expertise: Advanced proficiency in sales force alignment software and Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word); familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus.
  • Analytical Acumen: Strong ability to analyze complex datasets, identify trends, and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Client Engagement: Exceptional interpersonal and presentation skills to build trust and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Leadership: Ability to lead and mentor a small analyst team, fostering collaboration and innovation.
  • Communication: Clear, concise written and verbal communication tailored to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Industry Knowledge: In-depth understanding of pharmaceutical sales operations, market dynamics, and regulatory considerations.
  • Problem-Solving: Creative and technical problem-solving skills to address client challenges and optimize processes.
  • Adaptability: Ability to manage multiple priorities, adapt to evolving client needs, and drive process improvements.
  • Project Management: Strong organizational skills to deliver projects on time and within scope.

The annual base salary for this position ranges from $143,600 to $178,000. The base salary range represents the anticipated low and high of the Syneos Health range for this position. Actual salary will vary based on various factors such as the candidate's qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role. In addition, some positions may include eligibility to earn commissions/bonus based on company and / or individual performance.
