JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS Candidate will assist news staff by writing, editing and proofreading Penn State Extension news releases. Duties include gathering background information to complete assigned stories, interviewing extension educators, volunteers, and faculty sources, and writing news releases per Associated Press style. There may be opportunities to write feature stories or articles for the college's undergraduate student recruiting efforts. The intern will help translate complex subject matter into clear, compelling content that highlights the impact of Penn State Extension - the outreach arm of the College of Agricultural Sciences. These stories may appear in Penn State News and other internal or external media outlets to help increase brand awareness, prestige and support for Penn State Extension. Depending on skills, qualifications and interests, other duties may include taking photographs of people and events and assisting with Web/social media content development. Experience or coursework in news and/or feature writing helpful. Internship may be for credit (3) and/or compensation.
