Auburn Athletics is seeking a dedicated Sports Dietitian to assist with providing individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education to enhance the performance and well-being of Auburn student-athletes.

Essential Functions

  • Assists with assessing dietary practices, body composition, and energy balance (intake and expenditure) of athletes in the context of athletic performance and well-being.
  • Assists with providing counsel to athletes on optimal nutrition for exercise training, competition, recovery from exercise, weight management, hydration, immunity, travel, and supplementation.
  • Assists with performing and analyzing body composition assessments of student-athletes.
  • Assists with providing personalized meal and snack plans to promote achieving short- and long-term goals for athletic performance and good health.
  • Assists with providing medical nutrition therapy, as needed, to help manage or treat medical conditions in collaboration with team physicians and medical personnel.
  • Coordinates nutritional care as a member the of the multidisciplinary sports medicine team.
  • Evaluates nutritional supplements, including herbal supplements, for legality, safety, quality, and efficacy, monitors the use of appropriate supplementation.
  • Assists in the development and adherence of nutrition policies and procedures.
  • Assists with developing and delivering nutrition education presentations, demonstrations, or events on various topics related to nutrition for performance.
  • Recommends appropriate pre-, during, and post-exercise fluids and snacks for individual training, team practice, and competition.
  • Serves as a nutrition resource for coaches, athletic trainers, support staff, food service personnel and parents.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Complies with all applicable National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) and Southeastern Conference (SEC) regulations in the performance of job duties.

Minimum Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications
Master's or Bachelor's degree in Nutrition or a related field
Registered Dietitian license is required for all levels.Candidates who have a Bachelor's degree must have a Registered Dietitian license prior to January 1, 2024. Candidates who obtained their Registered Dietician license after January 1, 2024 must have a Master's degree.
