* Base Pay Range: $25.32- $39.99 per hour, based on experience

* Shift Differentials:

o Additional $1.50 per hour for evening shift

o Additional $1.50 per hour for weekend shift

DETAILED JOB DESCRIPTION

Detain or remove individuals who are disruptive or in violation of the law in MU Health Care facilities, parking garages, lots, or grounds while on duty. Escort incarcerated patients and assist law enforcement personnel to various hospital areas in order to monitor compliance to hospital policy. Instruct and advise staff on changes in policies, procedures, and work standards. Investigate complaints, disturbances, and thefts. Operate a two-way communication system to send and receive messages following appropriate radio protocol. Patrol designated area in hospital.

Provide outside law enforcement personnel with information and assistance with investigations occurring in the hospital by following established protocol. Quiet disruptive persons in order to re-establish an orderly environment. Record all activities occurring on the assigned shift in the daily log book accurately. Review incident reports to ensure their completeness and that appropriate departments have been contacted. Schedule and approve requested time off for staff. Supervise Hospital Security Officers during assigned shift by directing and reviewing work. Write a concise and factual report on each incident. Write parking tickets for illegally parked vehicles. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

High school diploma or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities can be acquired.

Three (3) years of healthcare security or law enforcement experience.

Personal driver's license; Missouri license within thirty (30) days of Missouri residency.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Additional license/certification requirements as determined by the hiring department.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met with or without reasonable accommodation. The performance of these physical demands is an essential function of the job. This position is very active and may require ambulating, remaining in a stationary position and positioning self to reach and/or move objects above the shoulders and below the knees. The employee may frequently lift and/or move objects up to 10 lbs and occasionally move objects up to 25 lbs. This role may also routinely comes into contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses. This position is in a health care facility open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rotating shifts as well as holiday and work during inclement weather will be required.
