About the Job

Work Arrangement:

  • This position has the ability to work remote, hybrid, or fully in-person. No employee is considered 100% remote and this position may be required to attend in-person trainings, meetings, etc.
  • The Department retains the right to modify flexible work arrangement agreements on a temporary or permanent basis for any reason at any time.

Job description:

Analyze chartstrings to identify financial risks and opportunities in Department and GME accounts. Ensure compliance and oversight of accounting support duties and ALRT centralized tasks.

Responsibilities

25% Financial Reporting and Analysis

  • Ensure proper accounting standards are met and in compliance with Department and University policies and procedures for each funding source
  • Establish budgets for non-sponsored accounts
  • Ensure accurate and appropriate cost allocation of personnel expenditures through payroll reconciliation and auditing
  • Complete timely and accurate account reconciliations, audits, and forecasts
  • Identify potential issues or areas of opportunity and work with supervisor or lead to address
  • Create ad-hoc reports and financial analysis

25% Accounting Support

  • Maintain integrity of accounting systems and the Chart of Accounts
  • Review and approve expense transactions to ensure compliance with the appropriate policies and procedures
  • Create billing requests, process journal entries, setup payroll allocations, and process adjustments
  • Setup, closeout, and oversight of accounts in assigned areas
  • Provide guidance on policies and procedures to department faculty, staff, and students
  • Participate and assist in process improvement initiatives

40% ALRT Center Centralized Duties

  • Serve as primary billing specialist for ALRT departments
  • Accounts Receivable reporting for Center
  • Monthly Pager reconciliation and payment processing
  • Monthly Campus Club Statement reconciliation and payment processing
  • Reconcile and process expense and revenue transfers for Department Royalty, visa, and immunization default accounts.
  • Payroll distribution setup, retroactive payroll adjustments, and internal payroll tracking document updates.

10% Other

  • Backup and assist in training other team members
  • Represent the Center, College, and University by serving on committees and workgroups
  • Special projects
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS degree and two years of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal six years.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, Google Suite, and data entry using a 10-key
  • Experience in the analysis of numerical reconciliation and payment processing
  • Excellent attention to detail and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to plan and carry out daily schedules, and monthly and fiscal year planning
  • Ability to balance multiple tasks effectively
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt well to variations in receiving, invoice and account statement volumes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in an academic institution
Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $31.02 - 36.83/hr; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment Category: 100% Appointment (If job description above does not specify appointment or expected weekly hours, assume a 100% appointment.)
